Tips to avoid charging issues in the winter cold

During the winter months, when temperatures drop, some electric vehicles may experience charging issues. This is due to a known phenomenon that we have identified, which can occur in subzero temperatures, particularly in certain electric vehicle models.

If the cable is connected to the car and confirmed in the app, but the charging doesn't start, it could be due to ice formation in the charging port. The ice can prevent the charging cable from fitting properly, which stops the charging from starting. For most electric vehicle models, it is crucial that the locking clip clicks into place correctly for the charging to begin.

For those of you who connect the charging cable while OptiCharge is activated in the app, it may be difficult to get confirmation on whether charging will occur during the scheduled charging periods due to ice formation in the charging port. We recommend being especially attentive to this in subzero temperatures.

We hope this tip is helpful during the winter months!
